On March 23rd 2016 Larraine presented the Keynote address for Broads Circle’s program titled ” The Chief Lawyer and The Corporate Board”. She spoke about the need for courage on the part of the Chief Lawyer in protecting the Board as well as the CEO sometimes from themselves as well as the evolution of Chief Lawyer into leader, manager and team player – leader of the legal team as well as outside counsel, manager of the talent (fast to fire and slow to hire) sometimes globally, and advisor and facilitator of the peer senior leadership team. But when she and her husband immigrated to the United States, even the outstanding education she received at University of the Witwatersrand did little to prepare her for figuring out how to continue her education and build a career in Los Angeles as a working mother without resources and guidance.
